Sunday Morning Worship
Each Sunday morning the PHCC congregation gathers for joy-filled worship at 10:45 am in the sanctuary. This is a time of prayer, hymn singing, reading of both Old and New Testament scriptures, all centered around the preaching moment and response through financial offering and dedication to service in the world.
Worship is enhanced each week by a choral anthem presented by our 30 member choir. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month and is open to all people without exception. Our worship is led by both pastor and lay members of the congregation. Musical accompaniment includes organ, piano, bell choir, and other musical gifts (solo vocal, guitar, flute, etc.) as offered by church members and friends.
Most Sundays include a special time with the children from the Sunday School class and a congregational prayer time when joys and concerns of the church members are lifted up.
On the second Wednesday evening each month, a 7:00 p.m. Taize service offers time for contemplation, chanting and prayer with Taize chants, readings and a time of silence. Our pastor plays the piano and leads the service.
What to Expect
When you come to our community church on a Sunday, you will be welcomed with a bulletin that describes the order of our service. Wear what makes you feel comfortable to the PHCC. Children are welcome to attend the service or participate in Sunday School. We do what we can to make our congregation accessible to all. We have installed a hearing loop for those wearing hearing aids, and we provide head sets to bring amplified sound directly to you if have hearing challenges. Our sanctuary has no steps and is readily accessible. We have parking spaces marked for those with special needs. For anyone wanting assistance getting from their car to the sanctuary, we have a wheelchair available.
Before the service, there is time for fellowship, coffee, tea and refreshments. The service starts at 10:45 a.m. Services include a welcome of visitors and guests, announcements, music, readings, prayers, and a sermon by our pastor. The children’s service starts at 10:45 a.m. also; they join the congregation for a “Time with the Children,” then continue their Sunday School.
