Pleasant Hill Community Church, United Church of Christ, is an Open and Affirming, Whole Earth, Global Mission, Just Peace congregation of the United Church of Christ. With roots in the post-Civil War work of the American Missionary Association and deep connections with Uplands Village, a UCC-affiliated retirement community here in Pleasant Hill, PHCC remains a vibrant center for social justice work and theological exploration.
We are a community with a heart for justice and a desire to meet the needs those whose lives are compromised by harmful social attitudes or discriminatory policies. And this passion emerges from our faith, that is, our commitment to follow in the ways of Jesus: love, justice, and peace.
We worship together and participate in a rich community life of social interaction and service. We frequently march together or write letters/postcards to create change. We are enriched by the arts and attend concerts and theatre together – in our church, our community, and beyond.
Because of our proximity to Uplands Village and the centrality of our church in that community, our membership includes over fifty retired clergy men and women, chaplains, and missionaries who create a deep sense of UCC identity and a commitment to global mission.
