Southeast Conference of United Church of Christ
This regional body provides services to UCC congregations across the South. With headquarters in Atlanta, the SEC offers a wide range of resources to pastors and church leaders seeking information and tools to meet their local church needs. Webinars and location-based seminars teach and train others on a larger basis. Over the last ten years, led by a staff and leaders with extraordinary gifts for ministry, the SEC has doubled in membership, with an emphasis on revitalizing congregations, welcoming congregations which are seeking affiliation with the United Church of Christ and establishing new congregations.

Neighbors Together
Neighbors Together is strongly supported by PHCC and Uplands members, through volunteer work, fund-raising events and financial and in-kind donations. The organization's activities are centered around the western Cumberland and eastern White counties. Neighbors Together provides assistance with utilities, transportation, SSI documents, food stamps, medical, dental, home repairs, job search, funeral arrangements, and widows' services. Ongoing programs include stocking and maintaining a food pantry, distributing kits through the B4 Books program, and assisting households with rent, electric, water, and gas bills. Council members network with the Wharton Association and the Alternative Christmas Fair at Uplands help fund the groups programs. E-mail Mandy at ntdirector@yahoo.com or visit the group's Facebook page (link above).

Shalom Center for Continuing Education
The Shalom Center is a non-profit educational center which provides opportunities for holistic education in areas of social, economic, cultural, ecological, ethical, and theological importance on behalf of shalom (wholeness, health, and peace). Shalom seeks to engage residents of Pleasant Hill and beyond in a lifelong learning process that is inclusive, imaginative, and celebratory, and which recognizes the integrity of creation and the unity of its inhabitants. The Shalom Center is not part of PHCC, but many of its board members are church members. In addition, PHCC supports Shalom through a yearly offering, and the Center's topics dovetail with interests and issues supported by the church. Shalom recently hosted the Interfaith Amigos (for the second time) who spoke about interfaith dialogue and their new book, "Religion Gone Astray." In January, Rev. Dan Romero of The Daniel F. Romero Border Ministries spoke about border and immigration issues from various perspectives. Both visits were a series of weekend seminars.

ACAT seeks to promote prevention and vigilance with regards to abuses committed by law enforcement officials in their own countries, as well as human rights education programs. The Pleasant Hill group is independent from PHCC, but is made up of many PHCC members and receives a yearly offering from the church.
